Here we are at the middle of November. I’m please to say I’ve been writing every day. Well, I missed one day during the travel related to my Salt Lake City trip a few weeks ago. Anyway, I’m more than halfway to the 50,000 words and it feels great. There are a few moments in the new story that feel like an awful lot of telling (instead of showing) and there’s also a bit of weight in the beginning where the story is a little slow. But, if I arrive at something interesting, those chapters and scenes will be edited and edited until they’re working.
One of the things I’m enjoying about the process this year is that I see where the story is going and I’m desperate to get to those places I see and yet the scenes are slowing me down. I have no choice but to write a scene and another scene before I get to where I’m going.
And, I’m revisiting some characters that I’ve met before. There are also a few new ones, but it’s just wonderful to spend time with some old friends. And, to learn more about them than I knew before. That’s such great fun.
So, here’s to another NaNoWriMo. I’m so hoping that this pattern of daily writing continues forward through the rest of November and into December. I have so much work I hope to accomplish and writing every day really is the best and easiest way to get there.
I hope your NaNoWriMo experience is a terrific one, too. And, if you’re behind, there’s still time to get caught up.
